Our Mission

To tailor learning and education to each individual child. To bridge the learning gap in our school systems and communities by relinquishing bias and providing a foundation that fosters individualism, creative expression, empathy, intervention, and diversity. To provide high quality, individualized care and creative learning.

Our Philosophy

Our philosophy honors and believes that no child is the same. We respect individuality and align our teaching practices with the uniqueness of each child by offering tiered learning and allowing children to freely express their perspective and ideas through creative arts, emotional/social expression, and exploration.

Our philosophy is that learning should be child led and rooted in experience, exploration, creative expression and the responsibility and trust of each of our young learners. As adults and educators we are a child’s first example and model. Children first look to us to begin creating their own sense of self. We believe that it is important for educators to consistently create opportunities that require trust and responsibility in young learners, in return young learners will develop trust and responsibility within themselves.

Social and emotional development is the foundation of The Jean Taylor School philosophy. We believe that educators are models first. It is important that our educators model healthy social and emotional development. So that they may foster empathy and respect of opinions and feelings of oneself and each child. Because children learn through experience, as empathy is taught and modeled other areas of development become easier to focus on.

Connecting our school and home families is key in The Jean Taylor School philosophy. It opens the door to communication and consistency across the board. We believe that home family and school families should be able to rely on each other in honor of each child. We believe that when children visualize both school and home families working together toward their development it will establish trust and stability.

The Jean Taylor School’s philosophy sees each educator as a model for earlier learners. Children learn mostly from experience and exploration. We believe educators have the role of leading by example and sharing experiences with children. Giving children the language to express themselves through play and activities, as well as providing opportunities to showcase responsibility and trust.

We believe that for successful teaching and learning to occur, trust, respect, responsibility, kindness, and empathy must be modeled, fostered and maintained.
